Jira without the browser
temet-jira searches, exports and creates Jira Cloud issues from the command line or from Python. It also runs as an MCP server, so Claude Code can read and write your tickets.

Why I built it
I wanted an agent to read a ticket, its epic and its comments, and to write back to Jira, without me copying text between windows. The Jira web interface is built for people clicking; agents need structured data and a command line.
What it does
temet-jira is a Jira Cloud client with three faces: a command line, a Python library and an MCP server.
From the command line you search with JQL, get an issue with its comments, list epics with their children, create and update issues, add comments, move issues through their transitions, and export sets of issues as JSON, JSON Lines or CSV. Credentials live in named profiles, so one install can talk to more than one Jira.
As an MCP server it gives Claude Code the same reading and writing as tools, which is how I use it most: the agent reads the ticket it is working on and reports back to it.
Install it with uv tool install temet-jira, then run temet-jira setup to configure the first profile.
How I built it
It is Python, released on PyPI as temet-jira, with the CLI and the MCP server sharing one client. Version 0.3.0 is the current release.
